| The
hot rod bug bit Bob Siegwarth hard in the 70's. Attending a local
rod & custom car show with his sister, and finally his first drag race
at
the famous Byron Dragway. With a lot of influence from his high
school buddies, and a trip to a junk yard full of classics, there was no
way out. This incurable disease had claimed yet another victim. |
| Bob
had spotted his first true love, a very rough and cannibalized '65 Impala
convertible. After tracking down the owner of the yard, he
arranged purchase of the car for $30. Then braving the delay of a
winter storm and tormenting from his friends, with borrowed truck and
trailer he rescued the car from it's sure demise. Sticking every
penny he could scrape together, and sacrificing a hand-me-down '67 Impala, Bob
eventually pieced the car together. From humble beginnings, the car
got a little quicker and with the help of another friend, the car returned
to a single color. The car found it's way into competition taking
it's first trophy on the dirt at an impromptu "drag race" down
the front straight at the local stock car track. The car was fitted
with a healthy big block and carried Bob down the very track in Byron, IL
that helped direct his life a few years earlier. |

After
getting the big Impala down track to a near 12 second pass in street trim,
it was time to move to a lighter, non-street car. Bob found a
retired '64 Chevy II drag car. The car had all the original
suspension and sheet metal, and was put together in street/strip
form. The Nova made its debut at Byron Dragway with a low 11 second pass, but was
loaded on the trailer shortly after with a broken rear end. As
budget allowed, and as Bob improved his skill set working on other racer's
cars, the Nova was upgraded
through the years. The car became more quick and reliable, and Bob
eventually coaxed it into the 9's and a track championship. Click on

| Siegwarth
Motorsports grew out of the same small two stall garage on a back country
road where Bob transformed the little blue Nova. Working on pretty
much whatever came through the door, from a rusty old farm truck, to a
fully ported and blueprinted race engine. All done after hours from
his full time job as a Xerox tech, as a way to fund his own racing
operation. Bob Siegwarth built a reputation for quality work, and
reliable and powerful engines. Always intrigued by the horsepower
gurus of early drag racing, Bob studied their tips and techniques to hone
his own skills of race engine building and tuning. |
|
In addition to engine work,
Bob improved his abilities with MIG and TIG welding techniques, as well as
chassis construction and setup, wiring and computer technologies.
These diverse background skills have given him the ability to perform just
about anything needed in total race car prep. This is the foundation
of Siegwarth Motorsports. To offer a full service shop, to handle
every aspect of race or street machine service. From simple
mechanical repairs to custom built race engines and dyno testing, we can
do it. We have built our reputation for quality and reliability on our large
base of satisfied
customers, let us add you to the list.
